Our Life On Purpose

We have 940 Saturdays until our kids graduate from high school and go on to college. That's 18 summers to make the most of our time with them.

Every year, we make resolutions to be intentional. Eat less, exercise more, get up earlier etc. We want to live our life on purpose, be intentional about parenting and being together and make family our favorite thing.

About two times a month we send out updates in our newsletter about what we're doing. We'll be creating our own resources on how to get more out of your family time, so sign up to be notified when they're finished.

Our Life

We love family time, and though sometimes that means we have more mess than we'd like, we want to share our journey with you. Follow along as we share our favorite experiments and experiences as we try to make every moment count.

Though the days are long, the years are short.

Not a bad place to take a nap…Or camp for free. • Boondocking for the first time at the Wall Dispersed area was a huge success. I was a total fan! Except for the 35mph winds on the last night !

Badlands National Park was such a cool experience for us! It was just sooooo different from the landscape in Virginia. • It was awesome to see the awe on our kids faces as we drove in and they got to see something so beautiful and different. • It’s definitely one of the reasons we decided to take this trip. It was so windy the day we left Sioux Falls to head over to the Badlands (like 20/30 mph winds!) • So we pulled over here at this rest are to give @joseph_hinson.co a break from driving for a bit and it ended up being one of the coolest places! • This 50 ft statue titled “Dignity” was built of steel by sculptor Dale Lamphere and weighs 11 tons. It was engineered with pivoting diamond-shaped panels in the quilt so that wind can blow through it and not blow the statue over. • There was also a short paved path out to a scenic overlook of the Missouri River. • I would have to say that South Dakota has some of the best rest areas of anywhere we have stopped! •

Falls park was such a cool place! There are waterfalls going right through the middle of the park! • The kids loved climbing around on all the rocks too (once I got them away from the water ). •

Norah and I took a fun little ride on the bike trail behind our campsite, just she and I . It’s so fun to have some one-on-one time with each kid every now and then. You get to see a whole different side of them. •
